(no subject)

She had said a week, a full week, and she meant a full week.

This is why at nine o'clock in the morning, a week after she left, Camille is knocking on Dominic's office door with a manila folder under her arm.

Now, last night, Camille had just gotten back from a plane trip and a bus ride and a week without her hair-straightener, and had looked it. This morning, her hair is back to being sleek and neat, her clothes back to a simple, elegant dress, and there is the faintest touch of perfume.

Appearances, after all, are everything, but half of it is just forcing herself to remember to be Camille again (Dava Giron is a far more comfortable fit than she should be).

As socially inept as he might be, he can read warning signs moderately well.

(he's already fumbling for a pen and paper in his pockets)

"You could leave a -- what's your name?"

Don't yell at the hired help, Camille.

"Camille Montes," and her tone is even.

He's already writing C-a-m-i-l-l-e before he realizes that that name's supposed to get more than a post-it.

"There's - already a note for you."

Elvis disappears within a moment, returning with a slip of paper in one hand.

Stopping by the doorjamb again, he offers it to her.

She glances at him, then takes the paper from him to read.

It is - for the record - unaddressed and unsigned.

A few loose ends to tie. Back in two days at the most.

(Elvis is trying not to act too bored or interested.)

At least he left a note.

"Thank you, Senor Karin."

Weird, he doesn't recall telling her his name.

"Of course."

The piece of paper is slipped into the folder, and she smiles at him.

"Well, good day."

And with that, she turns and walks out of Dominic's lobby.
